It may not be fall just yet, but the markets are starting to fill with those first fruits of the harvest. Right now, we’re blown over by the gorgeous, juicy pears and apples available. This menu highlights them, and showcases something a little extra-special: sweet potato gnudi (little dumplings that are like ravioli without the pasta case). Served with a crisp pear salad, it’s a fresh and filling meal, perfect for the early days of autumn.
Pear nectar, vodka and a splash of Cointreau—topped with a slice of, you guessed it, fresh pear. A lovely fall cocktail to sip and savour.
Pear, radish and fennel salad
Firm, crunchy-when-ripe pears are perfect for this crisp, refreshing salad. (We like Anjou or Bosc pears for this dish.)
Sweet potato gnudi with chanterelles
Sautéed with fragrant chanterelle mushrooms and sage, these savoury dumplings will be the talk of the table. (And everyone will want seconds, we guarantee it.)
Classic apple pie
Put that abundant fall apple harvest to use in a warm and cozy autumnal dessert. Tested to perfection, it’s the only apple pie you’ll ever make again (we’re not exaggerating).
